This trimester, Mr. Talmadge had us do an excel project. We had to make a map of WA on excel and make 20 coments (20 out of 26 letters in the alphabete and you can only use it once) about something interseting or important inWA state. I learned many things i had not already known and was fascinated by what i had learned. Excel was deffinetly a great site to use for this project and would most likely use it again. the best thing i think i did the greatest on on the excel map was explaineing each comment thouroghly. It was made easily so other people could understand. What i can improve is placing the comments really where they should be. I kinda just put them anywhere there needed to be a comment, to fill up space. But overall, i belivemy excel map was pretty good.

In chapter 3, i learned mostly of the Coastal and Plateau Indians. Each tribe of indians were similar in very many ways, but also extremely different. Like, the Coastal indians stayed in one sopt, built long houses and did alot of hunting and gathering. The Plateau Indians were nomadic, meaning they moved around from place to place. They built tepees for houses, hunted some, but mostly gathered. When food went scarce, they were eating bugs and fishing. Each religions the tribes had were very common. They both believed everything had a spirit, and that a shaman was their “god”. Each tribe had a tribal ceremony too The Coastal Indians had potlatchs and the Plateau people had a gathering called a pow wow. Both tribes were very interesting to learn and read about.

i didnt really learn anything in chapters one and two. I was re-learning my state. I reviewed many things i’ve already known, such as physical features, and cities and towns. But i also came across things i havent learned before, like the different indian tribes that traveled or lived in our state, and the reason why some of the things we have today are the way they are.

I dont think i would exactly change much on my essay worksheet if i had to do it all over again.I may only change some of my research. i did some, well, most of my essay on only the first crusade, and when i was just about finished, i found out the essay was on ALL of the crusades. :( that would really be the only thing i would change.
I think i did well tho, on my details. i had an interesting detail every once in a while to make it more readable.

The process, i thot, was real easy. I really liked the fact that already on the wiki, there were places for me to fing my research instead of me scanning the internet and looking for it myself. The only thing that i Disliked, was how long it actually took to do the essay. it took about a week, maybe a little longer, and it got a little stressful with the deadline drawing nearer.

The good things i enjoyed about using dabble board was that it corrected your mistakes. if u made an un-even line, it made it how it’s suppossed to be. i aslo liked all the things you could change with your poster board; color, size, shape ect. the things i didnt like about dabble board was that it didnt fix ur spelling errors. i aslo didnt like how difficult it was to paste a picture on to your poster board. overall, i’d continue to use dabble board for many projects.

Tips for living in the desert:

When u live in the desert, it’s best to wear light colored and light weight clothing to keep the heat at a lower temperature. And the second, is to make sure you’ve always got at least one hard surviving animal with you, such as a camel. Camels can live through days without food and water and can carry extremely heavy weights, such as yourself or items you need to travel with.

Tips for living in the oases:

When you live the oases, there aren’t many tips needed because all you really need is right at your fingertips. But, with all the water around, i would advise you to make an irragation system to control the water and keep it close by in case of a drought.

Tips for living in the Costal Plains:

When living in the costal plains, be sure to have many good trading items. With the good cloth, fur, jewelry, purfume; you can make a fortune because you are basically at the heart of all trade routes. And lastly, be sure t have water proof clothing. it rains daily beacause of all the moisture.

Tips for living in the Mountains:

When you own a home in the mountains, and you farm and grow crops, it’s best to make a terrace. A terrace helps the fertile land form slipping and becoming mud. With the terrace, you’ll always have good land suitable for farming. Second, i would also dress warmly. The weather is very cold (winds, rain, snow ect.) and you must dress warmly if you wish to adapt to this environment. And lastly, build your house out of something strong. Most people build their houses out of mud bricks because it can out stand the weather and it is the material (mud) is located everywhere in the mountains.

This first years trimester, it thought went pretty well. if i wasn’t at for a day or two, i made sure i went to each of my teachers to see what i missed. in math, we learned mostly about graphs and graphing, population and sample, and other stuff for review from last year. in SS, we learned about rome, europe, the black death and the decline of feudalism. in LA, we learned how to generate good yellows and reds, and how to pick a good topic sentance. and in science, we learned about the rock cycle, different types of rocks, the layers of the Grand Canyon and the canyon itself. what i think i should work on a little more, is getting a head start on homework and studying more for test and quizes.

Love Always,

My learning target that helped me this week was making infrences. The more i made, the more i think and the more i got out of my project. The project i worked on was The Hundred Years’ War.  I made this project on the wiki, a new website Mr. Talmadge showed us this week. It’s been really great using the wiki page and hope to use it more in the future. :)

What i think i did best in on the church poem was my poetic word choice. My words that i chose went well together and made the poem more intersting. :)

If i had a chance to do the poem all over again, i would redo my drawings. They were a little plain and needed a little more thought and detail.

The most helpful tool to me was the social studies text book. it had all the information i needed and the vocab. aswell.

I want mr.t to know that the project didn’t take me long to finish and i cant wait till the next project. :)
